The Joint Migration and Development Initiative, together with the Eunomad network and the UNDP ART initiative, have launched an e-discussion on "Promoting a territorial approach to migration and development: the practices, frameworks and strategies of local authorities to harness the potentiel of migration for development".

The JMDI is a program (2012-2015) by the European Commission and the United Nations launched in 2008; its second phase started in 2012 and will run until 2015. This program aims at supporting the civil society and local authorities in the fields of migration and development.
